I love this recipe because you can do so many things with it. You can put pesto on pasta, a sandwich, crackers, and anything else you can think of. I love just putting it on a piece of toast. If any of these things sound good to you, then this is a great recipe for you!
When I first tried pesto, my friend had made some pasta, and I was pretty hesitant on trying it because I thought I wasn’t going to like it – but she made me try it and I loved it! Now I make it myself every so often, and I’ve tried new ways of making it to get it just right. This recipe is just how I like it, so it is delicious! Most pesto recipes use pine nuts and garlic, but I really don’t like those so I use walnuts and no garlic instead. If you want, you can always add them in. You could also use cashews, which I saw in another recipe. Also, I decided to use less oil than usual because I like it better when the pesto isn’t so thin. However, if you like it thin just add a little more olive oil, and if you want it thicker use less oil and/or more basil.
We recently got a food processor, and I used it for making this. I used to make it in a blender, and it is much easier with a food processor. However, if you don’t have a food processor, a blender will work just fine. You just will have to stir it around more so it can blend well.
We also just got a basil plant, which we planted in the garden. It grows pretty fast, so now I can make more! The basil I used to make this was picked fresh from the plant!
This is a pretty easy and very delicious recipe to make, so definitely try it out. If you have any suggestions, tell me!
